Dr. Pierre Ordinaire was a French doctor who, while living in Switzerland, was credited with creating the highly alcoholic elixir absinthe. The drink is a mixture of herbs and was made popular in late-19th and early-20th Century France because of its widespread use among Parisian artists. It was banned in 1915 but is experiencing a rebirth throughout Europe as the European Union reauthorizing the sale and distribution of the liquor.
